Today Peter posted a fast growing cycad in his blog. This one isn't. It has been here for 10 years or so and has looked lush for the first time ever this year.

Proverbs 4:18 (New International Version)
"The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day."

  1. I shall refrain ... refrain ... from pointing out the obvious. However, the light here is just delightful.

Tell me, if you can, why did you move up to the mountains and how long do you think you will stay there?

  2. To give just a few reasons: I moved to the mountains because Sydney is too big for me; I loathe suburbia; I love the bush; I enjoy a four seasons climate; I think there is nothing nicer than sitting by a log fire on a winter's day; I wanted an old timber home; I fell in love with the place when I visited here on a school excursion from Queensland when I was a 16 year old; I told my parents that when they died I would gather some of their old furniture and spend my inheritance buying a house in the Blue Mountains ... and I did. That was 16 years ago.

I think we will stay here forever. Where else can you live among such natural beauty, enjoy life in the slow lane and yet have easy access to the city for work (at present), the libraries, galleries and bookshops.
