Thorns in paradise

We've reached the end of the windows! There is actually another one or two in my husband's workshop that runs under the southside verandah but the garden on that side is rather uninteresting at the moment ... too early for the azaleas. The only thing of current note out there is the japonica which is beginning to flower .... such a prickly plant that I only tolerate in neglected corners where I am unlikely to weed and get attacked by it's thorns.

Reflection:Genesis 3:17-19 (New International Version)
To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'
"Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life.

It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.

By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return."
