Saffron

There's quite a lot of yellow and orangeness going on in the garden at the moment.

Reflection:
Song of Solomon 4:13-15 (New International Version)
Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates
with choice fruits,
with henna and nard,
nard and saffron,
calamus and cinnamon,
with every kind of incense tree,
with myrrh and aloes
and all the finest spices.
You are a garden fountain,
a well of flowing water
streaming down from Lebanon.

  2. It's a lovely collage ... I do this to record the plants in my garden. It's a wonderful way of remembering all the colours that were displayed throughout the year... I've done pinks, purples, oranges, yellows, whites and reds.

What is the lovely plant in the top right hand box?

  4. Bernie, it is Montbretia. They sell the bulbs in the shops but around here it is a declared weed. They multiply like crazy and escape into the water courses where they break down the banks. I pull them out quite ruthlessly but there are always a few which escape my attention and delight me with their flowers.

  5. Diane, this is a new perennial snapdragon ... in its second year.

  6. Lovely montage ... I thought the monbretia was a christmas bell. I am not keen on the smell of the marigold but think the colour of the orangey ones are perfect.

  7. I wish I had some more of these colours in my garden.
Somehow, I've ended up with a lot of pink.
My last garden had a lot of yellow and I miss it.
Must dash out and get a few marigold to plant around the base of the new gate.
