Guard

Pines along front fence

Tall pines stand guard over the house,
stoically protecting us from the hot western sun,
tossing brave arms at the fierce winter winds,
alert and imperious on foggy autumn days,
glistening dew medallions in the spring,
and in all seasons filling the gutters with pine needles.

Reflection:
Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  2. Ah, now your text has clambered to another level. Whilst it could still be described as a list, there is also an element of the poetic, mixing the dreamer and the realist.

The biggest difference is that you have not written from the PoV of the senses.

  3. I thought about the pines and the thing that impressed itself most on me was the difference in the way they behave through the seasons, but how to describe that ... today's list is what unfolded ... I guess I will just go with the flow and see what happens.
