Balm

It looks prickly but the aloe has a healing balm inside its fleshy leaves.

Reflection:
Psalm 147:3 (New International Version)
He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.

  1. my friend's husband collects these
plants that have filled her house, to
her chagrine. they are very healing,
    though.

your title reminds me of one of my
    very favorite spirituals, "balm of
gilead." it is probably my most
favorite to sing, though i feel a bit
unworthy singing it. . . in light of
    the reason for the song.

    love,

  3. I love that song "There is a Balm In Gilead." We used to sing that in our concert choir in college. I think of it often. Carla

  4. I thought of the Balm in Gliead when choosing my verse for the day but the actual quote isn't as uplifting as the song because it doesn't contain the answer.

    Jeremiah 8:22 (New International Version)
"Is there no balm in Gilead?
    Is there no physician there?
Why then is there no healing
for the wound of my people?"
