Its been raining hard for days,
a persistent drum roll.
Slippery water seeking places to leak
through the taut tin skin.
Spilling over the edges where
pine needles have gathered.

Deuteronomy 32:2 (New International Version)
Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.

  1. "tin" works really well in this context ... the tin skin recreates the sound it is describing ...

going with the flow is all one can do, rather than sticking to a prescription.

Like my 150 word limit. It is starting to chafe already and I am only 10% of the year done ...

  2. oh the lament of the pine . needles slip with drops so well

  3. I can hear it on the roof not only in your words but in real life. We are having torrential outbursts. Typical tropical rain. I love it but a bit sad for our friends, who are having a 70th birthday party at home, hoping to use the outside area.
