Ginger flowers, fragrant spikes announcing that Autumn is almost here.  Already the sunshine is less hot and the air cooler. Reflection Psalm 141:2 New International Version "May my prayer be set before you like incense"

I've been working long and late (hence posting late again).  The other night in the wee small hours when I was switching out the lights to go to bed I found this. I helped it find a new home out the garden the next morning. Reflection: Psalm 140:12-13 The Message (MSG) "I know that you, God, are on the side of victims, that you care for the rights of the poor. And I know that the righteous personally thank you, that good people are secure in your presence."

It is such a pleasure to walk the paths were all is clipped, swept, mowed and weeded.  I'm just loving my garden right now. Reflection: Psalm 139:17-18 New International Version "How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
 How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them,
 they would outnumber the grains of sand."

Many of the paths and other structures that had become lost under a blanket of entangled vines and weeds have been cleared so we can see its bones again. Reflection: Psalm 139:14-16 New International Version "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
 your works are wonderful,
 I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you
 when I was made in the secret place,
 when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;
 all the days ordained for me were written in your book
 before one of them came to be."

In the dark shady spot beside my husband's workshop we have started a fern garden.  The big lump of cement that has been littering another part of the garden has been put to new purpose as a place to nurture a new fern. Reflection: Psalm 139:11-13 New International Version "If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me
 and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you;
 the night will shine like the day,
 for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being;
 you knit me together in my mother’s womb."

One of the delights of the garden are the ever present birds.  At this time of year the King Parrots especially like feasting on the seeds on the maple trees so we see them in bigger numbers. Reflection: Psalm 139: 9-10 New International Version "If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
 if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,
 your right hand will hold me fast."

I've placed an old chair, hidden among the bushes by the pond.  I am calling it the Secret Garden. Reflection: Psalm 139:7-8 New International Version "Where can I go from your Spirit?
 Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
 if I make my bed in the depths, you are there."

The huge Liquid Amber down the back threw a giant limb last year  (and a f ew years ago)  It has taken us until this summer to chop it up.  And no sooner were we done than it sent another crashing down (you can see it at the back of the shot).  We've decided it is no longer safe to have a table and chairs under that tree, it is now the location of a new wood heap and we've bought a nice little trolly to haul the logs up to the house. Reflection: Psalm 139:4-6 "Before a word is on my tongue
 you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before,
 and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
 too lofty for me to attain."

We've been moving the garden furniture about a bit, giving us fresh and different places to sit, think and enjoy. Reflection: Psalm 139:1-3 New International Version "You have searched me, Lord,
 and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise;
 you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down;
 you are familiar with all my ways."

Emboldened, an unusual word, but I just loved its use in today's Psalm. And the next Psalm is a truly magnificent one so as a special treat I will post a snippet from it every day this week while showing you some of the results of our hard work in the Summer garden. Reflection: Psalm 138:3 New International Version (NIV) "When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me."
