Standing tall

The Acanthus is looking good right now with their tall flower spikes.  Soon their leaves will die down for the summer. Reflection: Psalm 41:12The Message (MSG) "You know me inside and out, you hold me together you never fail to stand me tall in your presence so I can look you in the eye."

Huge stockpile

Remember the liquidamber that drops enormous limbs in the summer time.  Last week we decided to avert further danger and organised for it to have a trim -- cut out the top 1/3rd of the tree and lopped off the over long lateral branches.  There was a lot of timber crashing to the ground.  This turned into with logs for firewood and an awful lot of mulch.  This huge stockpile is less than half of it, they took the rest.  Now I have to figure out what to do with it all. Reflection: Psalm 40:4 The Message (MSG) "The world’s a huge stockpile of God-wonders and God-thoughts. Nothing and no one comes close to you!"

This is Azalea Walk as it was a few weeks ago.  Now there are just a few stragglers still flowering.  Their time is short but beautiful. Reflection:: Psalm 39:5-7New International Version (NIV) "You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you."

All my longing

I long to have a rose garden but have had little success due to the lack of sunlight in the garden.  This week I found a remnant of an earlier attempt bravely growing among the weeds ... what a delight, what a wonderful fragrance. Reflection: Psalm 38:9New International Version (NIV) "All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you."

Take delight

A few weeks ago when the crabapple was in flower I planted out the vegetable garden beds. Soon after many of the seedlings fed blackbirds, bowerbirds or possums (not sure which) but they have left me a few lettuce and a tomato that has flowers so hopefully some tasty treats a little further down the track. Reflection: Psalm 37:3-4 New International Version (NIV) "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
