The King Parrots are always plentiful in the maples at this time of year.  The lady King Parrot blends in well with the colour scheme, unlike her red suited mate. Reflection: Psalm 50:11-12 New International Version (NIV) "I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it."

Off with their heads

It's been so hot lately.  A run of so many days of heat is unusual here in the mountains.  It's been too hot to consider putting my nose outside the house but I knew the agapathus heads needed removing really soon so got up this morning before the heat of the day and chopped them all off ... all 250+ of them. It's green bin week, the council will take them away tomorrow morning. They were so pretty a few weeks ago.  But now despite the heat Autumn is beginning to herald its arrival.  The Belladona lilies have lifted their heads from the soil, the ginger flowers are beginning pop out, the king parrots are munching away on the seed in the maples, the fire wheel tree is getting ready to flower and their is the faintest blush or red on some of the maple leaves. Reflection: 1 Corinthians 13:6-7 New International Version (NIV) "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
