Spreading above

Berry laden boughs are currently arching over the path to the back of the garden. Reflection: Psalm 5:11 New International Version (NIV) "But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you."

Despite the circumstances

It's hot and the garden thinks so too.  But regardless of any circumstances there is always joy to be found in the Lord. Reflection: Psalm 4:6-7 English Standard Version (ESV) "There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!” You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound."

Standing tall

The agapanthus is standing tall in our garden at the moment, like just about every other garden.  The self seeded pine tree is now getting rather tall too. Reflection: Psalm 3:3 New International Version (NIV) "But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high."

I am in love with battery power tools.  They are easy to start, light and powerful. We have a crowd of guests coming tomorrow so I tried out the new leaf blower and it cleared the path of pine needles in a jiffy, which was just as well as it is very hot outside and moment. Reflection: Psalm 2 The Message (MSG) "Why the big noise, nations? Why the mean plots, peoples? Earth-leaders push for position, Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks, The God-deniers, the Messiah-defiers: 'Let’s get free of God! Cast loose from Messiah!' Heaven-throned God breaks out laughing."

Happy New Year 2018

Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year.  I hope that this year I will be back blogging in earnest posting weekly here - here is my blog plan for 2018  - only time will tell if my resolution sticks. After a dry winter the garden is is now quite damp so everything is green and flourishing and the cycad is pushing up its annual set of new fronds.   Reflection: Psalm 1  (NIV) "Blessed is the one … whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither."
