Sitting on the verandah having lunch yesterday attracted an unexpected visitor with her baby!  Possums are nocturnal but she must have been sleeping under the verandah and found the smell of fresh tomato soup irresistable.  She wouldn't take no for an answer so we let her drink from one bowl and she didn't stop until the last drop had been licked up. Reflection: Psalm 9:18 New International Version (NIV) "But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish."

The birds of the sky

Oops I forgot to post last week so will do two this week. The Brown Cuckoo Doves used to be an infrequent visitor to our garden but now the neighbours feed the birds they seem to have taken up residence.  I see a skink on the rim of the pond too - there are always plenty of them around the water. Reflection: Psalm 8:3-8 New International Version (NIV) "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas."

So good

The summer garden feels so good when it's green - not parched and dry.  We have builders doing repairs on the house at the moment.  They have been enjoying sitting in the cool shade of that tree for lunch each day. Reflection: Psalm 7:9-10 The Message (MSG) "You get us ready for life: you probe for our soft spots, you knock off our rough edges. And I’m feeling so fit, so safe: made right, kept right."

We have had quite a few days off from the heat but it is expected to get warm again tomorrow.  Either way, there are already signs of the turn of the season beginning in the garden. Reflection: Psalm 6:4 New International Version (NIV) "Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love."
